Lancaster University Feedback

We are delighted to have received a wonderful telephone call from the LUVU office thanking us for the event that we helped them with a week or so ago. Lancaster Volunteering Unit Assistant Director Sarah Hinton has kindly agreed to let us have a written testimonial so we look forward to sharing that on the Memorytube Kiosk website soon.

In the meantime we are wishing all of our customers past, present and of course future the very best in health and wealth for Chrsitmas and the New Year.

Lancaster University Voltage Pod - 11th December 08

The Feedback Pod at the recent Lancaster University Volunteering Unit's 'Voltage' Presentation Event was used by participants of the initiative to record their thoughts, feelings, compliments and comments on how they felt about their involvement.

The Voltage initiative has the strap line ' Switch yourself on' and from the young people that we spoke to it was evident that they had done just that.

Bright young people form many colleges in the area who had come together into teams to run their very own businesses - many with no prior experience of doing so - for a one month period.

Aiming to make profits which were given to charity the teams learned all about leadership, team working, design promotion, innovating, changing direction and more.

The pod managed to capture the essence of many of the skills that had been learns and lots of fun and excitement of being a part of it all.

We were delighted to have had the opportunity to have been a part of this and look forward to the prospect of working with the very professional team from Lancaster University's Volunteering unit again in the near future.

Feedback Pod at Digital Development Unit

Our Feedback Pod made a guest appearance at a recent No Limits - Digital Development Unit's Internet Marketing Event held at Burnley Football Ground Business Haven where Jan Klin from Jan Klin and Associates gave an informative hour and a half presentation on all that is internet marketing.

The Feedback Pod was used to capture feedback about the event from delegates that attended. They were also allowed to record a short video profile to be used within an eBook which we have hosted on our sister site Touchpro Media. The digital eBook for the internet marketing event can be found here.

Blackburn Enterprise Trust

Blackburn Enterprise Haven held its second charity networking event of 2008 on Friday 28th November. Again it was a fabulous success raising around £400 for the British Heart Foundation.

Director of Memorytube Kiosks, Lee Cunningham gave a presentation on how to benefit from increased networking efficiency in which he explained the opportunities that where available on the day for attendees to record their 30 second business video profile at the Speedback Pod.

The profiles that were recorded feature in a specially created E-Book created as an update. The networking efficiency comes from recipients of the E-Book forwarding it on to their own business associates and colleagues.

The Presentation was a success which was a relief as Lee was presenting alongside professional television presenter Zilpah Hartley aka one half of RTR Productions Ltd (Raising the Roof Productions). It was nice to receive positive feedback from many of the attendees and organisers.

The E-Book can be downloaded from the Touchpro Media website examples page.

Laptop Theft - Staggering Stats

Laptop theft is up 45% in some areas of the UK and there is evidence that thieves are targeting exhibition halls where there are few CCTV cameras and, where cameras do exist, there are many blind spots due to the constantly changing layout of the exhibitions.

This video clip is in fact an advert for a UK Insurance company offering laptop insurance - despite the slightly American feel to the advert - it neatly summarises the eyebrow raising numbers;

34,000 laptops stolen in the UK per year
7% overall increase
45% increase in some areas

Exhibitions - Maximise Visitor Engagement

Picture the scene. You are talking to a visitor at an exhibition, and another visitor pauses to look at your stand. Which customer will turn in to revenue? Which one will lead-2-cash?

If you can just make contact with visitor number two... it’s too late - they slipped away. If you have exhibited in the past you will recognise this as an all too frequent occurrence. Having a colleague on hand may help but is not always practical or indeed cost effective especially for smaller businesses.

The answer is simple and cost effective. Hire a touch screen kiosk. They are no longer the luxury of the big boys from the Blue Chips with hire prices beginning at around £100 per day.

Apart from creating a fantastic first impression, kiosks really engage people. It is so easy to excuse yourself from visitor A, just for a second, to invite Visitor B to view your company information or enter your fabulous prize draw on your kiosk - informing them that you will be with them shortly.

There. Visitor B nicely engaged. Also giving you the opportunity to naturally round off the conversation with Visitor A if needs be. That was easy.

Creating a superb impression and an engaging visitor experience with a touch screen kiosk – branded to your business – is simple, cost effective and smart. Maximising visitor engagement opportunities whilst making the most of your exhibition space is the way forward for small businesses.

Our other article on the increasing occurrence of laptop theft at exhibitions is another reason that small businesses should steer toward the hire of smart engagement and marketing tools such as branded touch screen kiosks. This article can also be found on the Memorytube Kiosks blog.

So create the WOW factor and use a fantastic touch screen kiosk to let visitors interact with your existing presentations, websites and business collateral. The holistic and powerful visitor engagement and marketing tool for use at exhibitions, waiting areas and business receptions.

Kiosks are robust, inviting, secure, impressive, easy to use, inexpensive to hire and create a fantastic first impressive. Kiosks also help by helping the exhibitor to avoid missed conversations by quickly engaging those visitors that may otherwise just have paused briefly and then continued on their journey around the exhibition hall.

Memorytube kiosks Limited are based in Blackburn in East Lancashire and specialise in the short and long term hire of touch screen kiosks.

Exhibition Laptop Theft On The Rise

We heard again last week from yet another victim of laptop theft from an exhibitor at an event in Manchester. Whilst it did not surprise us, we sympathise with the victim; it is probably worse than losing your wallet or having your credit cards stolen when you consider the possible implications losing personal and commercial data.

The exhibition environment is literally a paradise for a thief wanting to make a quick getaway with £1000s (or $1000s) worth of computing kit. Why? Exhibition halls erect and collapse shell scheme systems often on a per exhibition basis to meet the needs of the individual exhibition.

Little attention therefore can be paid to any security cameras that might be installed as this would be too costly. Though the foyer areas might be permanently covered, there are many blind-spots in most halls during the exhibition.

The increasing number of exhibitors using their laptops on their stands without securing them means that the tradeshow arena is an adventure playground for laptop thieves - see this one stolen in under 73 seconds.

Leaving a laptop lying about on a stand (whether secured or not) of course leaves it vulnerable to damage from knocks and spillages Etc.

The benefit to an exhibitor of using a personal notebook - essentially as a piece of digital signage - is minimal in any case. It is highly unlikely that a visitor to the show will interact with it.

Can you imagine them going for the touch pad or mouse to flick to the next page in the PowerPoint show - even if you had set the page transition...?

A sterling idea would be of course to consider using a good looking slim-line touch screen kiosk (kiosk, pod, booth, info point Etc.) that has been corporately branded with the exhibiting businesses logo and preloaded with the very media that was to be shown on the laptop.

In the case of a thief - to another stand that hasn't been forward thinking enough and smart enough to hire a corporately branded touch screen kiosk.

Memorytube kiosks Limited are based in Blackburn in East Lancashire and specialise in the short and long term hire of touch screen kiosks.

Latest updates

Wow! IS that the time? It has been a while and we have been completely mowed out. With no less that a dozen wedding fayres to deal with giving over 200 demonstrations of Memorytube which, in over 95% of cases received excellent feedback. The free prize draw we have been running will be drawn on 1st January 2009 - the prize is a Memorytube for the winners event or celebration.

Whilst busy we've also had to find time to help write parts of a new 6 part fly on the wall documentary in which Memorytube will feature. PLUS we're almost complete on a brand new touch screen application/solution offering for business - watch this space for news on that.

We've developed a further arm (currently under the pseudonym of Capital-i Media though soon to change) - creating interactive page turning ePublications which ties in nicely to our business kiosk haven hire pods.

Yes it has been a very busy time - further updates soon.

Leeds Metropolitan University Virtual Tour

Leeds Metropolitan University approached Memorytube Kiosks to supply a fully branded information point to be used as a springboard platform for its Virtual Tour for its 2008 freshers week.

Branding
Branding was of particular importance; a specific requirement was that kiosk users were not so see the black surface of the kiosk. Whilst this may not sound like such a demanding requirement, it should be pointed out that there are: -

- sixty pre-drilled holes in the surface of the kiosk fascia above the touch screen,
behind which the PC speakers are mounted.
- A web cam lens cover that needed to be carefully cut out of the covering material
- A multimedia card reader which needed precision cutting around

The total covering requirement was achieved by using a magnetic laminate, skillfully finished by our signs and graphic company. The finished effect was of a superb quality and one which delighted our client.

Software
The software solution designed by the skillful team at Leeds uses 3D imagery used is stored locally on the University's web site and can be viewed here.

Duration
The shelf of the application and the kiosk is relatively short at just ten days, however during that time it is estimated that thousands will use the facility.

Arr well.

The fayre is planned to be hosted inside the mills sometime in January. We will of course keep you posted.

Press clipping of today's Lancashire Telegraph Business Update.
We would like to add that funding was achieved via the Eureka initiative via Blackburn's Digital Development Unit.

Royal Lancs Show Rain Off

Sadly the RLAS has been called off (for the second year running) meaning that the smart looking Memory Tube created to capture interest on the new Toyota iQ model might be left in a muddy field in the middle of Barton!

The memory tube pictured right was designed over the last few weeks to give details about the new model of Toyota and to capture details form those interested in receiving further information.

Also on the kiosk was amazing footage of the Toyota Hilux Polar Expedition. You can see the content that was planned for the Memory tube kiosk by clicking here Toyota iQ Memory Tube Kiosk.

I have also attached a picture of the impressive Vantage Toyota exhibition stand - which is to be taken down at least for the Royal Lancashire Show.

Memorytube Touch Screen Kiosks and Pods

The link above takes you to our main website; Memorytube Kiosks.
Memorytube Kiosks Limited was formed in March 2008. As well as supplying touch screen kiosks which are available for hire, New Idea Pods and Open Event Pods, the company supplies wedding video kiosks and media upload booths, allowing the guests of a wedded couple to upload all photographic and video content to a single platform at a wedding reception.
The touch screen kiosk is also a great enabler at the event as it has a built in video camera and therefore allows guests to record a short greeting to the bride and groom, or to simply take a still image and add their greetings or sentiments to it.
All content is removed from the Memorytube and collated onto a special DVD which is then presented to the bride and groom.
